What do we offer?

Following an assessment by JewishCare FirstCall or Burger Centre staff, an individual service plan will be developed that allows clients to get the best from the Burger Centre. Clients can also benefit from being referred to the Fit2Fit program within the Centre, which aims to prevent people having a first fall, by conducting a mobility and shoe assessment, and enabling clients to access relevant skills training, walking aids and correct fitting footwear. Research shows that preventing a first fall is a key feature in enabling people to live safely and independently age well in their own homes.

Social Connections
Having a lack of social interaction is related to negative impacts on health and wellness, particularly for older people. To prevent isolation and to contribute to better psychological and physical wellbeing, we coordinate a range of activities including day trips to extend social connections and keep people healthy and active. Our activities are designed around common interests with other like-minded people.
JewishCare also offer a range of free programs to help keep you connected which you can find here .

Centre based respite and carer support
Our respite program is great for those wanting to maintain independence and social connections, providing a secure supportive environment to be yourself. Being involved in the respite programs at the Burger Centre gives opportunities to participate in indoor and outdoor pursuits including gardening, snooker, bowls, art gallery tours, concerts, current affairs discussions to name a few. This gives family carers an opportunity to continue to work, volunteer or pursuit their own interests at the same time.
